Deux adjectifs et deux verbes et une belle destination touristique :
De nombreuses traces d'habitation de la Tène ont été mises en évidence sur trois aires dans le département : autour de Troyes (Les Perrières, Saint-Benoit, Michaulot...) un autre autour de Méry-sur-Seine (la Saulsotte, Barbuise, Champ Potet...) et le troisième au nord, autour de l'Aube et de ses affluents (le Chêne, Plancy-l'abbaye, Mailly-le-Camp...).
Les premiers habitants du territoire actuel de l’Aube furent les peuples gaulois des Tricasses et des Lingons, avec une forte occupation humaine à la fin du Ve siècle av.J.C.
La réunion de la Champagne avec le royaume de France ne fut définitive qu'en 1361. Pourtant la population désirait absolument le rattachement de la Champagne ; en effet, en 1328, le roi Philippe VI offrit la ville de Bar-sur-Seine à Philippe de Croÿ, mais les habitants lui rachetèrent pour la rendre au roi, à condition qu'elle devienne inaliénable.
Le décret de l'Assemblée nationale du 15 janvier 1790 crée officiellement le département de l’Aube à partir d'un démembrement de la province de Champagne.
Le XIXe siècle marque le développement de l'industrie de la bonneterie dans le département.
Le début de ce siècle est marqué par la révolte des vignerons champenois. En effet, la loi sur la délimitation de la Champagne viticole de 1908 autorisait uniquement la production de ce vin mousseux aux départements de la Marne et de l'Aisne. La vente du vin auprès de ces départements en était même interdite durant l’année 1911. Cette situation provoque d'importantes émeutes dans le département, faisant plusieurs dizaines de blessés.
En 1919, un décret autorise pour la première fois le département de l'Aube à produire du champagne

The first people of the current territory of the Aube were the Gallic peoples of the Tricasses and the Lingons, with a strong human activity at the end of the 5th century av(avenue). J.C.
The unification of the Champagne with the kingdom of France was definitive only in 1361. Nevertheless the population wished absolutely for the fastening of the Champagne; indeed, in 1328, king Philippe VI offered the city of Bar-sur-Seine to Philippe de Cro ÿ, but the inhabitants acquired (bought back to) king, provided that it becomes inalienable
The decree of the National Assembly of January 15th, 1790 creates officially the department of the Aube from a dismemberment of the province of champagne.
The XIXth century marks the development of the industry of the hosiery in the department
The beginning of XX century is marked by the revolt of the champenois wine growers. Indeed, the law on the demarcation of the wine-making Champagne of 1908 authorized only the production of this sparkling wine in the departments of the Marne and Aisne. The sale of the wine with these departments was even forbidden during year 1911. This situation provokes important riots in the department, making dozens wounded persons.
In 1919, a decree authorizes for the first time the department of the Aube to produce some champagne
